Psychology Major

Empower others through a multitude of diverse career paths

Graduating with a psychology degree can lead to many different career pathways. According to a recent ranking, psychology was the third most popular major among college students in the classes of 2022 and 2023. It’s no wonder. A bachelor’s degree in psychology can lay the groundwork for graduate study in psychology, education, law, medicine, and business. It can lead to other career paths you may have never considered —counseling, social work, human resources, and even marketing.

Here on the Winona Campus, you’ll learn alongside faculty with real-world experience and expertise, committed to providing you with a well-rounded education. Together, you’ll explore how the mind functions in healthy individuals and the causes and effects of abnormalities in brain function. A crucial aspect of the psychology major involves lab work, offering invaluable hands-on experience in our three clinical labs. Here, you’ll gain knowledge and skills in experimental techniques, data collection, and analysis.

You’ll take courses covering topics such as personality, social, developmental, and abnormal psychology. Explore how humans perceive art and how they create it, examine the roles and functions of clinical and counseling psychologists, and learn about the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.

Built on our Lasallian Catholic heritage, we empower all learners to live a life of service and ethical leadership. You’ll find opportunities for professional and personal growth, learning how to bring compassion, empathy, and goodness to the world. At Saint Mary’s, we’ll prepare to change the world, and vice versa.
