Career Services at Saint Mary’s recently released its 2024 First Destinations report, which provides an overview of the outcomes of Saint Mary’s graduates upon completion of their degree. The First Destinations report continues to serve as an excellent analytical tool for Saint Mary’s to reach new students where they are.
Undergraduate College, Class of 2024
The First Destinations for the College Class of 2024 report examines the outcomes of Winona Campus graduates upon completing their bachelor’s degrees.
Of the graduates who responded, 91% are working, attending or applying to graduate school, or participating in a long-term volunteer placement. For respondents who answered the question, 81% reported working in a position related to their field of study.
Many of the graduates who responded received offers from leading international, national, and regional organizations, including Association House of Chicago, Avanade, Inc., Best Buy (corporate), Emplify Health, Enterprise Mobility, Fastenal Company, Kohler Company, Kwik Trip, Mayo Clinic, Minnesota Department of Corrections, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Optum, Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, The Watkins Company, Topgolf, University of Minnesota Athletics, and University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Twenty-nine percent of the graduates who took part in the survey are continuing their education either part-time or full-time, with 81% pursuing a master’s degree, 9% pursuing a professional degree (J.D., M.D., other), 2% seeking additional undergraduate education, and 2% did not disclose education being pursued.
Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs, Class of 2024
The First Destinations for the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs (SGPP) Class of 2024 report examines the status of SGPP graduates upon completion of their degree. Of the 50% of SGPP graduates with known outcomes, 93% were employed at the time of the survey.
Many of Saint Mary’s SGPP respondents are employed by leading international, national, and regional organizations, including Allina Health; Anoka-Hennepin School District; Big Lake Schools; Boston Scientific; Canvas Health; CARE Counseling; Cedar Hill Therapy; Children’s Minnesota; Chisago Lakes Schools ISD 2144; Dakota County; District 196; Evernorth; Fairview Health Services; Farmington Area Public Schools; Hennepin County; Lakeville Area School District; Loyola Catholic School; Mayo Clinic; Minnesota Department of Health; Natalis Outcomes; Ramsey County; Regions Hospital; Risepoint; Robbinsdale Area Schools; Rochester Public Schools; Sagent Behavioral Health; Saint Paul Public Schools; Self-employed; State of Minnesota; U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs; UCare; and Washburn Center for Children.
Thirty-nine percent of the SGPP graduate respondents indicated advancing their career was their primary career goal when they began at Saint Mary’s, with 30% aiming to do so in the same industry or job function. Twenty percent hoped to obtain their first job in their desired field, 10% of respondents aimed to change to a new industry or job function. Seventy-three percent of respondents reported meeting the career goals they had when enrolling at Saint Mary’s.
Of those surveyed, 48% experienced a job or career change while enrolled at Saint Mary’s, with 59% of respondents moving to a new organization. Sixty-six percent reported that their salary increased as a result of their job change.
